Skoda and Hyundai challenge Tesla in used EV resale values

Data from CarGurus indicates that Tesla’s dominance in the British electric vehicle market is being challenged in the used car sector by rising resale values from rival manufacturers. Between January and June 2026, several competitors saw higher increases in average listing prices compared to Tesla’s most popular models.

The Skoda Enyaq led the growth with a 10 per cent increase in average listing prices, followed by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at 9 per cent and the BMW iX3 at 7 per cent. In contrast, Tesla’s Model Y saw a 4 per cent rise, while the Model 3 increased by only 1 per cent.

While Tesla models remain highly popular in the new-car market, the data suggests that popularity does not always correlate with the strongest price performance in the used market. In the segment of electric vehicles priced between 45,000 and 55,000 euros, manufacturers are increasingly offering advanced battery technology and ranges exceeding 450 kilometers, providing strong competition for consumers looking for long-distance utility.
