Skoda Peaq electric SUV completes 1.5 million km of global durability testing

Skoda’s upcoming fully electric SUV, the Peaq, is slated for a global launch on 23 June. The model, built on the MEB+ platform and offering a range of more than 600 km, has undergone an extensive durability programme. Engineers logged over 1.5 million kilometres with prototype units across three continents – Europe, Africa and North America – subjecting the vehicle to the harshest climate conditions. Tests included desert heat above 40 °C in Arizona and Arctic cold down to –40 °C north of the Arctic Circle, evaluating battery performance, drivetrain dynamics, safety systems, heating and cooling, chassis, brakes and interior insulation.

In addition to physical road trials on dusty, rocky and icy surfaces, Skoda employed high‑performance computer simulations to model diverse usage scenarios early in development. The Peaq will feature a seven‑seat cabin, a vertically integrated central infotainment screen, advanced driver‑assist features and a new Sonos sound system, positioning it as the flagship of the brand’s electric and SUV line‑up.
