Škoda Peaq electric SUV completes 1.5 million km of extreme‑condition testing ahead of June launch

Škoda Auto has finished an extensive development programme for its new flagship electric SUV, the Peaq. Prototypes covered more than 1.5 million kilometres on three continents, undergoing real‑world tests in the Arizona desert, on dusty gravel roads and in regions over 200 km north of the Arctic Circle where temperatures fell to ‑40 °C. The trials evaluated cabin heating, battery performance, traction on snow and ice, paint and plastic durability under intense sunlight, as well as braking, cooling and chassis robustness in extreme heat.

The seven‑seat SUV is built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform, offers a claimed range of over 600 km on a single charge and power output up to 300 hp. Its dimensions (4.9 m long, 1.7 m high, 2 965 mm wheelbase) provide a spacious interior with up to 890 litres of cargo space when the third‑row seats are folded. Production versions will be offered in 60, 90 and 90X trims, the latter featuring dual‑motor all‑wheel drive and 0‑100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds. Škoda plans to unveil the Peaq on 23 June.
