Skoda plans to launch premium Peaq SUV and new Epiq-based EV in India by 2027

Skoda Auto India is evaluating the introduction of its flagship seven‑seat electric SUV, the Peaq, in the Indian market. The Peaq was globally unveiled on 23 June 2026 and is built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform. It will be offered in three power‑train variants (60, 90 and 90x) with WLTP‑certified ranges exceeding 600 km for the top models, a 91 kWh battery, and 0‑100 km/h acceleration as quick as 6.7 seconds. Pricing is expected to start around ₹1.0‑1.2 crore (ex‑showroom) for imported units, positioning the model as Skoda’s most expensive offering in India. A launch could occur as early as 2027, following the company’s broader plan to expand its electric‑vehicle lineup globally by 2026.

In addition to the Peaq, Skoda is also considering a second electric model based on the Epiq concept, built on the MEB+ platform. The Epiq‑derived SUV would be shorter (4,171 mm) and feature a 13‑inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, OTA updates, and a 475‑litre boot. Both vehicles are aimed at competing with emerging Indian electric‑SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV, Mahindra BE 6 and Maruti e‑Vitara. Skoda’s recent sales surge—72,665 units in 2025, a 107 % year‑on‑year increase—underpins its confidence to push premium EVs into the Indian market.
