Skopje Mayor announces BRT updates and new parking solutions

Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgievski has announced updates regarding the city's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and local parking issues. To address previous delays, a new functional concept has been adopted for the BRT that allows buses to operate on both sides of the central greenery, preserving the existing landscape instead of removing it.

The project is divided into phases. The first phase focuses on infrastructure to connect Gjorce Petrov with Novo Lisice, with tender processes already underway. A subsequent phase will involve the procurement of approximately 40 new eco-friendly buses.

To alleviate traffic congestion near the Clinical Center, the city has launched a tender for the construction of two large modular parking lots. These facilities are expected to provide capacity for over 520 vehicles.
