Skydance implements price hikes and restructuring following major merger

Following the official merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery to form Skydance, the new media entity has begun implementing operational changes and price increases. Discovery+ has raised its subscription rates, with the ad-supported plan increasing to $6.99 per month and the ad-free tier rising to $11.99 per month. These changes apply immediately to new subscribers, while existing members will see the new rates on bills starting November 12.

Skydance is managing approximately $80 billion in debt and aims to achieve $6 billion in cost savings through operational efficiencies. While the company plans to eventually consolidate its major streaming platforms—HBO Max and Paramount+—into a single service, they will continue to operate separately in the immediate term.

In terms of content and leadership, DC Comics will now report to Josh Silverman, President of Global Products, Publications, and DC. The company’s television portfolio has expanded significantly, now controlling over 120 series across various studios. Additionally, Skydance has pledged to maintain the editorial independence of CNN and CBS News, though executives have noted that operational efficiencies in technology and facilities will be pursued.
