Skydance secures exclusive NCAA March Madness rights through 2032
Following the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount, the newly formed Skydance media company has assumed exclusive ownership of the television, digital, and related rights to the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. This control, known as March Madness, begins with the 2027 edition and continues through 2032. The move consolidates rights that were previously shared between CBS Sports and TNT Sports under a single corporate umbrella.
Separately, the U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing a case involving Paramount Global and the Video Privacy Protection Act. The case, Salazar v. Paramount Global, centers on allegations that a Paramount-owned sports website used a Meta tracking tool to share a user's video viewing history with Facebook without consent. The court's decision could significantly impact how websites manage data privacy and tracking tools on video content.
