Skyroot Aerospace prepares India's first private orbital rocket Vikram-1 for July launch

Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad‑based private aerospace firm, announced that its Vikram‑1 rocket has successfully completed all major ground qualification tests, including the Kalam‑1200 static fire, stage separation, payload fairing jettison and overall avionics module verification. The company posted on X that “before Vikram‑1 could leave for Sriharikota, every major system had to qualify on the ground.”

The maiden orbital flight, dubbed Mission Aagaman, is slated for a window between 12 July and 4 August 2026, weather permitting and subject to final regulatory clearance. The launch will take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Vikram‑1 will carry customer payloads and, more importantly, gather real‑time flight data to validate performance and enable future commercial missions. The successful launch would mark India’s first privately developed orbital‑class rocket and could strengthen the country’s role in the global small‑satellite launch market.
