Sıla Usar İncirli demands accountability after Kyrenia ship disaster

Sıla Usar İncirli, leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), has called for a transparent and rapid investigation following a ship disaster off the coast of Kyrenia. She emphasized that those responsible must be held accountable under the law.

İncirli described the event as a multi-dimensional crisis with profound human consequences, noting the trauma experienced by survivors and the grief of families. She highlighted that while municipalities have provided humanitarian aid and psychological support, the psychosocial support network has lacked the necessary speed, scope, and coordination.

Furthermore, İncirli criticized the official communication during the crisis, stating that the public was not informed adequately or in a timely manner, leaving many questions unanswered. She noted that search and rescue operations are ongoing with the support of local institutions, the military, and the Republic of Türkiye, alongside contributions from private vessels.
