Slavneft-Yanos refinery hit by Ukrainian drone attack in Yaroslavl

Ukrainian drone strikes targeted the Slavneft-Yanos oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, causing at least two separate fires within the complex. The facility, which is managed by Rosneft and Gazprom, is one of Russia’s five largest refineries, with an annual crude oil processing capacity of approximately 15 million tons.

According to the Yaroslavl regional governor, Mikhail Yevrayev, the attack resulted in one death and 27 injuries. The strike caused significant local disruption, including the closure of sections of the M8 highway toward Moscow and the rerouting of public transport and intercity bus lines. Thick black smoke was also reported over Pavlovsky Posad.

This incident marks the eighth strike on the Slavneft-Yanos facility since the beginning of the year. The refinery is located roughly 700 to 1,000 kilometers from the front lines. While the full extent of the material damage is still being assessed, the facility is considered a strategic target for disabling Russian military logistics and fuel supplies.
