Croatia: Plenković oversees regional development and infrastructure investments

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has been active in regional development and infrastructure discussions across several counties. During a session of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem in Donji Miholjac, contracts worth nearly 54 million euros were awarded for water management, nature protection, and urban development. In the Osijek-Baranja county alone, 2.09 billion euros have been contracted from national and EU sources through September 2026.

In Split-Dalmatia County, celebrations for the County Day included discussions on demographic measures, education investments exceeding 300 million euros, and sports infrastructure. Prime Minister Plenković addressed the future of sports facilities, suggesting the modernization of Poljud Stadium rather than complete reconstruction, while also pledging support for the Brodarica stadium, Gripe, and Spaladium Arena.

Additionally, the government has established a new Council for Local Development to coordinate sectoral policies and include local self-government units in regional development planning. In Vinkovci, the sixth Croatian Rural Parliament convened to discuss the future of rural areas, financing opportunities, and the role of youth and women in rural development.
