Slavonia grape harvest advances due to heat and drought

Grape harvesting in Croatia's Slavonia region, specifically within Brodsko-posavska County and the Vinkovci area, is underway. Local vintners report that climate conditions, characterized by high temperatures, intense sunlight, and prolonged drought, have significantly accelerated the ripening process.

Winemakers note that harvest timelines have shifted approximately one month earlier than in previous decades. While some varieties like Pinot Noir are already being harvested with high quality reported, others, such as Graševina, require careful monitoring of sugar and acid levels to determine the optimal picking moment. Despite the lower yields caused by the lack of rainfall, there are high expectations regarding the quality of the wine produced from this year's crop.
