Sleep deprivation affects over 30% of adults

A report from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) indicates that 30.5% of adults sleep less than the recommended seven hours per night. Additionally, nearly one in five adults experiences difficulty staying asleep, while 15.4% struggle to fall asleep.

Chronic sleep deficiency is linked to increased risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, anxiety, depression, and weakened immune systems. Experts note that sleep is essential for tissue repair, immune function, memory consolidation, and hormone regulation.

To combat sleep issues caused by work-related stress and mental clutter, specialists recommend establishing a wind-down routine during the final hour of the day. This may include reading, relaxation techniques, or writing down pending tasks to clear the mind. Maintaining an optimal sleep environment—dark, quiet, and cool—is also critical for restorative rest.
