Sleep disorders and quality significantly impact daily life and productivity

Recent data highlights the widespread impact of sleep disorders on daily life and productivity. According to a survey by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 72% of adults report that sleepiness affects their daily activities. The study, involving 2,007 participants, found that sleepiness influences mood for 60%, stress and anxiety levels for 53%, and work productivity for 42% of respondents.

Common sleep issues include insomnia, parasomnias (such as sleepwalking and nightmares), and sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is specifically noted for causing nighttime breathing interruptions and snoring, which prevents individuals from reaching deep sleep. This often results in waking up feeling unrefreshed, accompanied by symptoms like daytime fatigue, morning headaches, and difficulty concentrating.

Medical experts suggest that sleep quality is as critical as sleep duration. For instance, nasal congestion can lead to mouth breathing, causing dryness, snoring, and fragmented sleep. Furthermore, a global study by Resmed involving 30,000 people across 13 countries indicated that 53% of participants achieve quality sleep only up to four nights a week, underscoring a global trend of insufficient rest.
