Sleep problems affect over 67% of working-age adults in Poland

A study published in Frontiers in Public Health indicates that over 67 percent of working-age adults in Poland experience some form of sleep problems. The findings were based on a health behavior analysis of 5,006 individuals aged 18 to 64.

Cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist Mateusz Majchrzak notes that sleep issues are often the first visible sign of underlying problems such as excessive stress, irregular circadian rhythms, poor diet, and prolonged fatigue.

Research highlights the importance of physical activity in improving sleep quality. According to a 2024 study in Scientific Reports, at least one hour of appropriate daily movement can facilitate falling asleep faster and extend deep sleep (NREM) phases. Deep sleep is essential for immunity, tissue regeneration, and hormone secretion, while REM sleep is critical for emotional regulation and memory consolidation.
