Slipknot guitarist Jim Root discusses direction of new album

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has shared insights regarding the band's upcoming studio album, emphasizing a desire to avoid repetition. In recent social media updates, Root stated that the band is experimenting with different musical approaches and cautioned fans not to expect a recreation of their earlier sounds, such as 'Iowa' or their self-titled debut.

Root described the current recording atmosphere as 'honest and true,' noting that while the sound may not strictly mimic their early years, the vibe feels 'uneasy' and reminiscent of their initial recording sessions. He also expressed a preference for a less overproduced sound, suggesting a move away from the excessive guitar layering found on some of their later releases.

The guitarist confirmed he will be spending the remainder of the year in the studio, working with various amplifiers and guitars to establish a new rig for the band's upcoming projects.
