Slovak historical sites undergo major renovations in Trenčín and Bratislava

Several historical restoration projects in Slovakia have reached significant milestones. In Trenčín, the Župný dom, a national cultural monument and former seat of the Trenčín County, has undergone a nearly five-million-euro renovation. The project, funded through the Trenčín 2026 European Capital of Culture program, addressed critical issues including failing electrical, heating, and plumbing systems, as well as structural damage to the roof and walls. The palace now serves as a modern exhibition space and cultural hub, featuring a cafe, information center, and areas for contemporary art installations.

In Bratislava, the long-running reconstruction of the Ferdinand Baths at Železná studnička continues. Managed by Alojz Hlina, the project has been underway since 2015 and aims to transform the area into a spa park complete with a restaurant, cafe, and bookstore. Despite delays caused by the five-year permit acquisition process, efforts are focused on completing the site to create a unique recreational zone within the city.
