Slovak manufacturing sees factory rescue and plant closure

The Slovak manufacturing sector is experiencing contrasting developments. The electrical engineering factory SEZ Krompachy, which faced bankruptcy and the potential loss of all operations, has secured a rescue. Production will continue under the management of SEZ Holding and SEZ Industry, ensuring that approximately 200 employees will retain their jobs. The company had previously faced debts exceeding 5 million euros.

In contrast, the German group Fritzmeier has announced the closure of its plant in Bánovce nad Bebravou after more than 20 years of operation. The facility, which produced components for construction, agricultural, and handling machinery, is expected to undergo liquidation by 2026. The company has faced significant financial losses, accumulating over 2.6 million euros in losses between 2021 and 2025. Production will be relocated to sister plants in the Czech Republic and Germany, affecting the remaining 44 employees.
