Slovak municipalities reach historic average transparency levels

Transparency International Slovakia (TIS) has released its latest ranking of the 100 largest municipal governments, reporting a historic average transparency score of 64.6%. Eight municipalities achieved the highest A+ rating.

Stará Turá secured first place with a score of 91.6%, overtaking the 2022 winner, Partizánske, which took second place with 91.2%. Prievidza ranked third with a score of 86%, marking a significant improvement from its 37th place position in 2010. Mayor Katarína Macháčková accepted the award on behalf of the city.

While the overall average increased, the growth was slower than in previous years. The most significant progress was noted in the management of property, with scores rising from 38% to 60%. Conversely, public procurement saw a decline. Notable shifts included Púchov rising 74 places to 13th, while Spišská Nová Ves dropped 61 places to 88th.
