Progresívne Slovensko leads in latest Slovak election poll
An August election poll conducted by the AKO agency for TV JOJ 24 indicates that Progresívne Slovensko (PS) would lead in a parliamentary election with 21 percent of the vote, securing 39 seats.
Smer-SD follows in second place with 17.7 percent (33 seats), while the Republika movement ranks third with 9.8 percent (18 seats). Other parties expected to enter parliament include SaS and Hlas-SD, both at 8.8 percent (16 seats each), KDH at 7.8 percent (14 seats), and Hnutie Slovensko at 7.7 percent (14 seats).
Several parties are projected to fall below the 5 percent threshold required to enter the National Council, including SNS (4.7 percent) and Demokrati (4.3 percent). The poll suggests that neither the current government coalition nor the main opposition bloc could form a majority independently. A coalition of PS, SaS, and KDH would hold 69 seats, requiring the support of Hnutie Slovensko to reach a majority of 83 seats. Meanwhile, a conservative-nationalist bloc consisting of Smer-SD, Hlas-SD, and Republika would hold 67 seats.
