Slovak Radio marks 100 years of regular broadcasting with exhibition and special programming

Regular radio broadcasting in Slovakia began on 3 August 1926 from Bratislava, a milestone now celebrated as the centenary of Slovak Radio. The public broadcaster STVR opened an exhibition titled “100/70” in its Bratislava gallery on 2 August, with public access starting on the anniversary day. The showcase chronicles a century of radio and seven decades of television, featuring historic receivers, studio equipment, costumes from classic TV productions and multilingual audio guides prepared by editors of minority-language services and Radio Slovakia International.

On the same day STVR aired a special radio programme, “Storočie s Vami”, to commemorate the occasion. General director Martina Flašíková highlighted the role of public media in shaping collective memory, noting that the exhibition brings together the intertwined histories of radio and TV in one venue.
