Slovak Railway warns heat could disrupt train service

The Slovak Railway (ZSSK) cautioned that an upcoming heat wave may affect railway operations. Meteorologist Nikoleta Hrušková said temperatures could reach 30‑39 °C across the country, with the possibility of hitting 40 °C by the end of the week and early next week, while rain is unlikely. Extreme heat can impact train vehicles, technical equipment and track infrastructure, potentially slowing or halting services.

ZSSK said its dispatch centres and operational units are continuously monitoring weather conditions and are prepared to respond to any emergencies. Passengers are advised to follow up‑to‑date travel information, stay well hydrated, carry sufficient water and necessary medication, and plan for possible service adjustments until cooler weather returns around July 1–2.
