Slovak Social Insurance Agency launches new electronic pension services
The Slovak Social Insurance Agency (Sociálna poisťovňa) is launching new electronic services that allow citizens to apply for pensions and other benefits, such as maternity allowances, online. Through the redesigned Electronic Insured Person Account (EÚP), users can access interactive e-forms tailored to their life situations, reducing the need for in-person branch visits.
To facilitate these digital transitions, the agency is operating in a pilot dual mode, meaning paper and in-person applications remain available. The system also allows users to electronically supplement missing documentation, such as periods of pension insurance that may be absent from official records. This is particularly relevant as recent pension forecasts revealed gaps in the data for approximately 3.4 million people, often due to older, incomplete records.
Martin Hloušek, director of the pension insurance section, noted that this is the first time in the agency's history that all pension benefit applications can be submitted via the online environment. Additionally, the agency will now exchange account ownership data directly with banks, eliminating the need for applicants to visit banks to obtain physical forms for account confirmation.
