Overview

Slovakia is undergoing administrative digitalization, including the implementation of a new Business Register where electronic data holds legal validity and synchronizes automatically with state databases. Parallel to these reforms, the Ministry of Interior has notified approximately 130,000 citizens and foreign residents that their qualified electronic signature (KEP) certificates will expire on September 28, 2026. As part of its Recovery Plan, Slovakia has expanded its digital modernization efforts. Following the initial digitalization of nine key life situations, the National Agency for Network and Electronic Services (NASES) has launched new online services for 16 priority life situations. This initiative introduces three interconnected solutions: a service locator that directs users to the correct electronic submission without requiring knowledge of the specific responsible authority, updated electronic forms that guide users step-by-step and hide irrelevant questions, and a streamlined submission process.

The new system allows for real-time data accuracy checks, automatic pre-filling of data from state resources to minimize repetitive entry, and the ability to attach documents, sign electronically, and submit applications in one place. For services requiring fees, the system will also support online payments.
