Slovakia car market sales decline 17.7% in July 2026

The Slovakian new car market experienced a significant downturn in July 2026, with sales falling 17.7% year-on-year to 6,940 units. This decline has contributed to a 5.9% decrease in year-to-date volume, totaling 50,444 sales through the first seven months of the year.

Skoda remains the dominant market leader in Slovakia, holding a 23.5% market share for July. The Skoda Karoq achieved its first monthly win, while the Octavia, Fabia, Kamiq, and Scala also maintained strong positions within the top models. Volkswagen remains in second place despite a 23.8% decline, followed by Toyota and Kia.

Notable shifts in the market include a massive 1,004.8% year-on-year increase in sales for BYD, which reached the ninth position in the brand rankings. Additionally, the Kia K4 entered the top 10 for the first time, ranking eighth in July.
