Slovakia enforces stricter permits for private pools as new construction law takes effect

Effective 1 April 2025, Slovakia’s new building law classifies small underground structures such as private pools under 25 m² and three metres deep as minor works, but still requires owners to submit a notification and obtain the appropriate permits. Failure to comply can result in inspections, fines, or even orders to dismantle the pool.

In the Czech Republic, recent public swimming facilities demonstrate how modern architecture can enhance recreational spaces.
