Slovakia Introduces New Salary‑Transparency Rules for Equal Pay
From 7 June 2026 Slovakia will enforce new transparency requirements under law 76/2026 Z.z., obliging employers to explain how wages are set and why employees in comparable positions may earn different salaries. Companies must provide objective, non‑discriminatory criteria for pay decisions, aiming to boost trust between employers and staff and to address gender‑based pay gaps.
The Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family has published a methodology to help firms assess and classify jobs in line with the law. While the guidance is not legally binding, it outlines how to evaluate positions based on factors such as responsibility, complexity, working conditions and soft skills, and stresses that remuneration includes base salary, bonuses, benefits and other allowances. Zuzana Rumiz, president of the Slovak Association of Personnel Agencies (APAS), said the rules could increase confidence in the labour market if employers communicate the reasons behind pay differences clearly.
The measures target HR departments, managers and job candidates, requiring clearer internal pay structures and more transparent job advertisements.
