Slovakia launches Agriwow project to boost agricultural education interest

The Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has launched the Agriwow project to increase interest in agricultural, food, and forestry studies among students in grades 7 through 9. The initiative aims to address a shortage of skilled professionals by highlighting the modern, high-tech nature of the sector, which now utilizes artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous machinery.

Minister Richard Takáč noted that the project is a first-of-its-kind effort for the ministry to attract young talent to secondary agricultural and food schools. Eugen Mizerák of the AGRION association of agricultural machinery suppliers emphasized that the goal is to shift perceptions of agriculture from a secondary career choice to a modern field involving drones, data, and advanced technology.
