Slovakia opposition faces unity hurdles amid criticism of government's Russia policy

Slovak opposition leaders are facing challenges in forming a unified conservative political bloc. While Veronika Remišová of Za ľudí has proposed a memorandum focused on foreign policy, economic restart, and the rule of law, discussions have stalled as party leaders prioritize local election campaigns.

Simultaneously, members of the SaS party have criticized the Fico government's foreign policy stance. Vladimíra Marcinková and Juraj Krúpa accused the administration of acting in the interests of Russia, specifically citing efforts by the Ministry of Defense to remove Russian oligarchs from sanctions lists. They argued these actions undermine EU and NATO unity and contradict the Prime Minister's expressed fears regarding war.
