Slovakia political polls: Progresívne Slovensko leads as Hlas-SD declines

An August election poll conducted by NMS Market Research Slovakia shows significant shifts in the Slovak political landscape. Progresívne Slovensko (PS) maintains its leading position with 19.2% support, a slight increase of 0.4 percentage points from July.

Smer-SD has seen the most notable growth among the top parties, rising by 1.1 percentage points to reach 16.5%. The movement Republika holds third place with 13.3% support. In contrast, the governing Hlas-SD party experienced a sharp decline, dropping 1.9 percentage points to 5.9%, placing it near the 5% threshold required to enter parliament.

Other parties above the threshold include KDH at 5.9% and SLOVENSKO at 8.9%. Several other groups, including Demokrati (4.6%) and the Hungarian Alliance (4.0%), currently sit below the electoral threshold, though they remain within the margin of error. The poll suggests that if elections were held now, the current governing coalition would lose its majority.
