Slovakia targets 90% HPV vaccination rate for girls by 2030
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has joined a national initiative to increase Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates among children. During the signing of a memorandum on the prevention of oncological diseases, Pellegrini urged parents to seek medical information and follow professional recommendations to prevent various types of cancer.
The Ministry of Health aims to implement a national plan to eliminate HPV-related cancers. The government has set an ambitious target to reach a 90% vaccination rate for girls by 2030, while also seeking to increase coverage among boys. Current data indicates that vaccination rates in Slovakia are significantly below these goals, with approximately 50% of girls and 30% of boys currently vaccinated.
