Slovakia to provide internet vouchers for eligible students
The Slovak government will launch registration for an electronic internet voucher on September 8, 2026. The program is designed to provide internet connectivity for two years to specific groups of students.
Eligible recipients include primary and secondary school students with special educational needs or those living in material need. The voucher is valued at 480 euros, which covers 20 euros per month for 24 months. This amount is intended to cover the internet service, necessary hardware such as a modem or router, and installation or activation costs.
To qualify, the internet connection must reach a minimum download speed of 30 Mbps. The assistance will be provided exclusively as an electronic voucher rather than cash or a bank transfer. Once approved, students can select a service provider from a list of participating companies in their area. Registration will be conducted electronically via the ‘Online žiak’ website.
