Slovakia used electric vehicle market share rises to 3.3 percent
The market for used electric vehicles in Slovakia is experiencing significant growth, driven by middle-class households rather than just corporations or technology enthusiasts. According to data from AURES Holdings, the market share of battery electric vehicles (BEV) in the used car segment rose from 2.1 percent to 3.3 percent year-on-year.
Notably, sales of used BEVs have surpassed the combined sales of all hybrid models. Karolína Topolová, CEO of AURES Holdings, stated that buyers are increasingly motivated by economic factors such as price, mileage, and equipment rather than ecology or technical novelty.
Demographic data from AAA AUTO indicates that men make up 76 percent of buyers, with the strongest age group being between 37 and 50 years old. While the typical buyer is a 45-year-old male from Bratislava using the vehicle for city commuting, there is growing interest among drivers over 50 and younger individuals under 25. For most customers, these purchases represent their first electric vehicle.
