Slovenia government outlines key measures in first 100 days

The Slovenian government has outlined its key actions during its first 100 days, focusing on infrastructure, energy, and economic stability. To combat rising costs, the administration is preparing an intervention law to provide targeted aid to road carriers, agriculture, and forestry. This measure aims to prevent high fuel prices from being passed on to consumers through increased costs for food and transport.

In terms of infrastructure and technology, the government has accelerated major projects, including the early completion of renovation work on a heavily used section of the Styrian motorway. Additionally, Slovenia has become the sixth EU member state to approve the temporary EU homologation of the FSD (Supervised) driver assistance system, facilitating the use of advanced automated driving technologies.

On the fiscal front, the government has implemented a budget rebalance. Finance Minister Andrej Šircelj stated that this rebalance will not negatively impact citizens, ensuring that social benefits, scholarships, pensions, and salaries remain unaffected. The government also aims to reduce public debt to below 65 percent of GDP this year. Other social measures include addressing inequities in long-term care payments for elderly care homes and improving public transport through the introduction of contactless payments.
