Slovenia mountain rescue interventions rise by 18 percent
Mountain rescuers in Slovenia have recorded 607 interventions as of September 8, marking an 18 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Data from the Mountain Rescue Association of Slovenia suggests the year could reach record levels of activity.
The most frequent reasons for rescue operations include lack of terrain familiarity (146 cases), slips (129 cases), and poor physical fitness (105 cases). Additionally, 72 interventions were necessitated by inadequate personal or technical equipment. Rescuers emphasize that better preparation and appropriate footwear could prevent many of these incidents, particularly in high-activity areas such as Mount Triglav and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
