Slovenia road and cycling route closures in Gorenjska region

Two major road closures have been implemented in the Gorenjska region of Slovenia. The closures affect the Vršič pass and the Mokri log forest road, which serves as a key segment of the national cycling connection between Bled and Bohinj.

The closure on the Mokri log road is expected to last until Sunday, August 30. This measure is necessary to facilitate the felling of trees damaged during a windstorm, a process authorized by the Forestry Institute of Slovenia. The Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia for Infrastructure has strictly prohibited movement through the closed section due to the high danger posed by the logging operations.

Cyclists are advised to follow the official detour through Nomenj, which involves traveling along a regional road. Authorities recommend that cyclists ride in columns of no more than two, stay to the right, and wear helmets. Families with children and less experienced cyclists are encouraged to seek alternative routes in the Bled or Bohinj areas during this period.
