Road closures in Slovenia Gorenjska region

Overview

Road closures have been implemented in Slovenia’s Gorenjska region, affecting both transit and recreational routes.

In mid-August, the Vršič Pass underwent a scheduled one-day closure for asphalt resurfacing and road reconstruction. This work was part of a broader project to reorganize parking and traffic flow, including the upcoming implementation of a new traffic management system scheduled for September 1st. During the maintenance, traffic was diverted through the Predel border crossing into Italy.

By late August, additional closures were reported in the region, including the Mokri log forest road. This closure, intended to facilitate the felling of trees damaged by a windstorm, affects a key segment of the national cycling connection between Bled and Bohinj. Authorities prohibited movement through the Mokri log section due to the high danger posed by logging operations, advising cyclists to use official detours.
