Slovenia to hold four referendums on October 11
Slovenia is preparing for a significant series of referendums scheduled for October 11, 2026. Voters will face four different ballots: one legislative referendum regarding amendments to the law on parliamentary inquiries, and three consultative referendums.
The consultative questions concern the abolition of the mandatory RTV Slovenia contribution, the conditioning of social assistance for able-bodied individuals through community service, and the voting rights of foreigners in local elections.
The State Election Commission (DVK) has established the official timeline for these votes. Voters participating in the referendums may choose which specific questions they wish to vote on, but they must exhaust their right to vote at that time; they will not be permitted to vote on the unselected questions at a later date. Deadlines for postal voting and applications for voting from abroad have also been set, with applications for voting from abroad due by September 25.
