Slovenian and Bosnian mountain rescue teams log hundreds of interventions

Slovenian mountain rescue services have responded to 448 incidents since the start of the year, 74 more than the same period last year. The number of accidents in the mountains is rising, with 88 interventions in June and 121 in July, aided by 34 and 59 helicopter deployments respectively. The most frequent rescue areas are the Triglav region and the Kamniško‑Savinjskih Alps, where hikers often underestimate terrain difficulty or encounter rockfall.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 170 members of the Gorska služba spašavanja (mountain rescue service) were on duty throughout the Mladifest pilgrimage in Međugorje. They carried out 40 interventions, including three search operations and assistance at the heavily visited Križevac site, providing 24‑hour coverage for pilgrims and event organizers.
