Slovenian cultural festivals highlight visual arts and heritage

The 15th International Festival of Visual Arts has opened in Kranj, Slovenia, under the theme ‘Window as a Space of Gaze’. Hosted at the Layher House Gallery, the festival features 78 artists from 16 countries. The exhibition explores the window as a symbolic boundary between the internal and external worlds.

In the Croatian selection, seven artists are represented with 28 works. Artist Ivana Mrčela received recognition during the opening ceremony for her work involving drawing, painting, and spatial installations.

Separately, the Heritage in Motion 2026 festival was held in Bled, Slovenia. The event, organized by the European Museum Academy and the International Foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures, recognizes multimedia and audiovisual projects that promote the preservation of global cultural heritage. The documentary film ‘Lux in Vitro’ was named a finalist in the Heritage Audiovisuals category. Croatia was represented by three projects across various categories among 18 finalists from 12 countries.
