Slovenian emergency services conduct large-scale rescue drills
Emergency services in Slovenia conducted large-scale training exercises to test mobilization readiness and rescue capabilities.
In Domžale, the 'Domžale 2026' drill simulated a natural disaster scenario triggered by prolonged drought and high temperatures. The exercise involved 325 protection and rescue personnel, 47 vehicles, two rescue dogs, and a Slovenian Police helicopter. The drill focused on managing multiple emergency events, including wildfire risks in dry vegetation, across various locations such as Češminov Park and Šumberk.
In Maribor, a major firefighting drill took place on the Drava River near the Lent area as part of Fire Safety Month. The exercise focused on water rescue techniques, including rescues from and in the water, to prepare for incidents involving river tourists and boat operators. Participating units included the Maribor Fire Brigade, medical rescuers, police, and local river boatmen.
