Slovenian Hiker Dead After Search in Italy’s Dolomites

A 54‑year‑old Slovenian woman who went missing while hiking in the Val di Fanes area of the Belluno province was found dead on Sunday. Rescue teams located her body beneath the Outo (High) Bridge, a panoramic structure about 1,400 m above the valley floor, ending a multi‑day search.

The operation involved the Veneto Alpine Rescue Service, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, fire brigade, canine units and drones. Authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the death, with a possible voluntary act among the hypotheses. The hiker’s car was spotted at the entrance of the Dolomiti d’Ampezzo Natural Park in Felizon, and her last mobile signal was recorded near Col Rosà on Sunday morning.
