Slovenian Infrastructure Minister discusses energy and transport projects
Slovenian Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Jernej Vrtovec has engaged with regional leaders regarding major development projects. During a visit to southeastern Slovenia, Vrtovec met with mayors to discuss the southern part of the third development axis, road renewals, and railway and cycling connections. He emphasized the importance of infrastructure for regional connectivity and economic development, specifically noting that the road connecting Bela Krajina to Novo Mesto is a priority.
In response to the minister's goal to advance the JEK2 energy project to a point where it cannot be stopped, Janez Kerin, the Mayor of Krško, issued a formal response. Kerin invited the minister to a working meeting in Krško to discuss open questions regarding the project. The Mayor emphasized that a project of such scale must be developed through continuous dialogue with the local community and the Posavje region, rather than being treated solely as a state project. He stressed that local developmental, environmental, and social needs must be integrated into the planning phases and regional development laws.
