Slovenian medical groups support healthcare parts of Interventional Act

Medical organizations in Slovenia, including the Coordination of Medical Organizations, Young Doctors of Slovenia, and the Praktik.um union, have expressed support for the healthcare components of the proposed Interventional Act for the Development of Slovenia. They state that while the act is not a comprehensive healthcare reform, it contains essential corrections to current legislation that has proven difficult to implement in practice.

The organizations aim to address issues that hinder the organization of work and the effective use of available medical staff. Key supported measures include extending the transition period for compliance with the Medical Activity Act and removing the two-year requirement for the responsible holder of medical activities. They advocate for comparable professional working conditions for all licensed doctors to ensure available expertise is utilized efficiently to care for the population.

Furthermore, the groups warned about the potential consequences of a referendum. They noted that the Interventional Act covers various sectors beyond healthcare, and a rejection of the law could prevent the adoption of these necessary medical corrections for at least one year due to legal restrictions on passing laws that contradict referendum results. Such a delay would maintain existing limitations that currently complicate healthcare delivery.
