Slovenian men's volleyball hosts Nations League matches in Ljubljana
The Slovenian men’s volleyball team returned from the Nations League opening in China, where it defeated the hosts, China, as well as Poland and Cuba before falling to Japan. Coach Fabio Soli highlighted the blend of experienced players and newcomers, noting the confidence gained by younger athletes at the Asian tournament.
Back home, the team will play its remaining group fixtures at the Stožice arena, opening against Canada on Wednesday, followed by matches with Bulgaria, Brazil and Italy. President of the Slovenian Volleyball Federation Metod Ropreto promised an attractive programme, adding that for the first time two historic jerseys – numbers 6 and 9 worn by Mitja Gasparini and Dejan Vinčić – will be displayed in the arena. The event also features community engagement, with fire‑brigade and rescue‑service representatives invited to the opening day. Organisers have moved the tournament dates slightly earlier than in previous years to better fit school holidays and avoid peak vacation travel.
