Slovenian municipalities invest in road and cycling infrastructure

Municipalities in Slovenia are undertaking significant infrastructure investments to improve transport and tourism connectivity.

In Bovec, the municipality is allocating over three million euros toward road infrastructure and maintenance. A key strategic goal is to expand the cycling network, specifically aiming to connect Bovec with Novo Gorica. Current projects include a cycling path from Bovec to Čezsoča, with future plans to extend routes through Trnova and towards Oton. Mayor Valter Mlekuž noted that the challenging mountainous terrain requires innovative solutions to ensure safety for both cyclists and motorists.

In Bohinj, the municipal council has approved a budget rebalance. A major change involves the bridge over the Savica river in Ukanc; due to advanced deterioration, the original renovation plan has been replaced by a requirement for a completely new bridge. This project is currently awaiting necessary documentation and approvals, delaying implementation until next year. Additionally, the municipality is managing funds for road reconstructions, such as the Podjelje–Goreljek route, and addressing costs related to the Ravne landslide remediation.
