Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar is facing political scrutiny following reports regarding the background of her close friend, Viktorija Krivolucka. The controversy emerged after a July 31 car accident involving the president's official vehicle, during which Krivolucka was a passenger.

Investigations by media outlets have revealed that Krivolucka previously lived in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, and shared a residence in 2009 with Roman Jeglič, a former deputy director of Slovenia's first post-independence intelligence service (VIS). Jeglič, who later moved to Russia, was also linked to the Catch the Cash pyramid scheme.

Political opposition, specifically the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), has called for the government to restrict the President's access to classified intelligence and security reports pending a full counterintelligence assessment. The parliamentary security commission has also requested clarifications regarding potential Russian influence.

The President's office has denied any cooperation with Russian intelligence networks and stated that Pirc Musar does not personally know Jeglič. Additionally, the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency (SOVA) noted that previous verifications of Krivolucka had not identified any security threats.
