Slovenian President Pirc Musar accident footage released

Surveillance footage from the Kastelec Tunnel has been released, revealing the details of a July traffic accident involving Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar and her security convoy. The footage shows the collision occurred while the President was returning from a holiday in Croatia.

Investigations indicate the accident was caused by a failure to maintain a safe following distance. The 52-year-old driver of the President's official Mercedes-Benz V300 struck the rear of an Audi, which was serving as a lead vehicle in the convoy. The driver is suspected of causing the accident through negligence, and the case has been referred to the Specialized State Prosecutor's Office.

President Pirc Musar sustained a fractured collarbone and was treated for minor injuries, while one of her companions, Viktorija Krivolucka, suffered serious injuries. The President has publicly expressed regret for not wearing a seatbelt during the incident.
