Slovenian President's office questions leak of accident footage

The Office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia has raised questions regarding the public release of video footage documenting a July traffic accident involving President Nataša Pirc Musar and a companion. The President's office noted that they were denied access to the footage by the police and the Specialized State Prosecutor's Office to protect the interests of the ongoing pre-trial investigation. Consequently, the office is questioning how the footage became publicly available on television stations before the investigation concluded and before the drivers involved had been interviewed.

The President has acknowledged that she was not wearing a seatbelt during the accident and expressed regret over the matter. Meanwhile, the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Traffic Safety (AVP) stated it cannot evaluate the drivers' conduct based on the video, as the footage does not provide reliable data regarding vehicle speeds, specific movements, or driver reactions prior to the collision.
