Slovenian volleyball team prepares for home Nations League tournament

The Slovenia men’s volleyball squad will host a Nations League round in Ljubljana’s Stožice arena from June 24 to 28. The schedule features opening matches against world champions Italy and runners‑up Bulgaria, followed by games with Brazil, Ukraine and a debut home test against Canada.

Coach Fabio Soli and veteran blocker Alen Pajenk stress the need to raise the team’s level after a mixed performance in the earlier Asian leg, where Slovenia recorded three wins, a loss and a defeat against China, Poland and Cuba. Player Tonček Štern highlighted that eliminating large swings in serve‑receive consistency is essential to compete with the sport’s elite and to secure valuable Olympic qualification points.

The team will rely on strong home‑court support from Slovenian fans, aiming to convert each point and set into a step toward a higher ranking in the Olympic qualification race.
